Exercise: 5km Run (including intervals) - Treadmill, Weights, Situps (8’s)

I sat up late last night watching lots of old video footage of when Alana was a baby and also of our kitten that we had when we were in the UK. It was so sweet watching them and brought back loads of memories.

So when the alarm went off this morning I nearly went out in sympathy with Andrew and rolled back over, but knowing that I’d already had a pretty slack week exercise wise, I got out of bed instead. That always seems to be the hardest bit. Once I’m actually out of bed then I just go into auto pilot mode.

I’ve decided that I really do enjoy doing the interval runs (on the treadmill anyway). I like being in control of how fast I’m running and how long to make each interval. I did 6 x 60 seconds at 12.5kph, followed by a recovery of 60 seconds at 9kph, and the last 2 intervals were at 13kph. This works out to be at 4.40 pace I think (if anyone cares to correct me if I’m wrong, please do!!). I don’t know how anyone can run at that pace for any period of time, it’s just SO fast  Well it’s fast for my little legs anyway :-)

Followed this up with some weights (mainly big muscle groups) and then the situps that make a difference (bicycles, captains chair, hover and fitball situps).

And how strange that my calf didn’t niggle at all today. It felt a bit heavy but nothing like Wednesday.

I know I’ve already whinged about this before, but how expensive is going to the doctors!! I had to pay out $62 for a consultation which lasted all of 5 minutes. The doctor checked my blood pressure and wrote me out a script. That was it. I’ve got to go back next week for a minor operation (to take out old Implanon device and fit new one) and I’ve had to book out a triple appointment in case he has any trouble removing the old one. I just hope that I don’t get charged for a triple appointment or else I will not be a happy chappy

I swear that next year I am going to buy all my christmas presents before June…..shopping with idiots at this time of the year is not something I enjoy…..at all

This was the sunset last night. Unfotunately I couldn’t get a good view as the trees were in the way.

Thought I’d add this photo of Alana after she was inducted into Cub Scouts.

I had a bugger of a job sewing all the badges on her top, but Hubby thought of an easy way of doing it. Just use Hemming tape and iron them on before sewing. By doing this the badges do not move and are in the correct position…YaY!!!

Alana’s fringe is nearly grown out now, thank goodness. I really do think it suits her much more with longer hair around her face. Luckily I convinced her too!!

Here’s one of the family. I took a couple of closeups of Alana’s face but they didn’t turn out as well as this one. We had been to the local Bistro for a meal and they had free face painting for kids…..this was the result :-)

Exercise: 4.5km Run/Walk - Treadmill, 15 Min HIIT Session - Cross Trainer (8’s)

I was almost going to turn over and go back to sleep this morning when the alarm went off. This is becoming a very common occurance, way too common for my liking. I must start going to bed earlier. I’m reading a great book at the moment which is not helping me achieve this though. It’s the next installment of the Bourne saga. This one’s called The Bourne Legacy.

So back to this morning…..well I did get out of bed, and I did go to the gym (yay me!!). I decided to do a very slow, easy run on the treadmill. My calf, however was feeling very tight and almost to the point of twanging again, so I did a combination of walking and running. I had to pause the treadmill mid way through so as I could have a stretch. That really helped the calf and it felt alot looser after that.

Jumped onto the cross trainer for some HIIT. Strange but there was no pressure whatsoever on the calf whilst I was doing this.

Why is it that no matter what queue I sit in at the petrol pump, I always get the moron head who takes forever to fill their car up. I was almost 10 minutes late for work this morning because it took so long at the service station

My girlfriends in the UK have organised a day out in London at The Winter Wonderland I reckon it’s going to be freezing cold too

Alana’s Quote: “Mum, don’t worry about it, it’s not the end of the world you know!”

Exercise: Weights (Upper Body), Situps

The legs were a little bit tender this morning so I made the decision to give them a rest and just do an upper body workout. I think I made a good choice :-)

I did consider hopping on the treadmill at one point just to give the legs a bit of a turnover but quickly extinguished that idea! Tomorrow will be a much better day for running :-)

I was a little disappointed with the outcome of Australian Idol, although I thought that the song they will release suited Natelies voice much more than Matts. I think Matt will still do well as he has a huge fan club already.

I’ve found a way to watch all the new movies that I haven’t seen yet. Fly to the UK :-) Just checked out what movies will be on whilst we’re flying and there’s tons of new ones that have just been released. There’s also tons of games to play, music to listen to and tv shows to watch. And the alcohol is free too….woohoo!!

Okay, I have to go and sew some badges on Alana’s Cub Scout uniform and I’m really crap at sewing so I hope they don’t look too bad once they’re on her shirt

Exercise: 23km Run/Walk - Trailwalker CP 1 & 2 (7’s Blue)

Well The Girls had their first training run/walk this morning. I’ve pinched the picutre of us at the start from Em’s blog (thanks tons).

We started at Jells Park and ended up at Lysterfield Lake.

We did a combinatiion of walking and running, which for me was perfect. Felt good right up until we hit this hill

Luckily once we got over the top of it, there was quite a bit of downhill running. I did struggle a bit over the last couple of km’s and probably held the girls back a little bit.

I’m hoping that increasing my mileage whilst I’m in the UK and doing some big hill walks will help get me past the point I’m currently at.

It was a welcome relief to see the carpark where Em’s partner was picking us up from. The flies were horrible though. Every time we stopped they just attacked us. I was really surprised as I was madly spraying insect repellent every time we stopped but it just didn’t seem to really deter them much. Might have to look into getting something a bit stronger

Hubby and I went up town yesterday to see the Mind, Body & Spirit show at the Exhibition Centre….my opinion - don’t bother. It’s really not worth the $15 entry. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t what we saw, that’s for sure. We did get a bargain though. 8 packets of Veggie Chips for $10 :-)

Whilst we were over that way we decided to head on over to Smith Street :-)

OMG, are they MORE trainers you ask

These are the Saucony Grid Propel + Nxgen (whatever that is). They had a great deal on at Converse where you bought one pair of Sauconys and got the second pair at 50% off. I rang Michelle pronto and asked her if she’d like a pair too. Of course she would….why did I even consider that she’d say no!!

Nike also had some great deals and I found a really thick fleecy pair of trakkie pants for $20…woohoo. Just what I need to keep warm while in the UK.

Exercise: 5km Run - Treadmill, Weights, Situps (8’s)

I have today off work so was able to stay in bed a bit longer before heading down to the gym.

I’m not sure if anyone else has the latest issue of Ultrafit, but there is an article about dropping fat, which makes for interesting reading.

It’s amazing how you can read something in a magazine and it all seems to make sense, whereas you already know everything written in the article but can’t seem to put it all together yourself. This is me to a tee!!

So this morning I did an interval session on the treadmill. I warmed up for 10 minutes and then did 8 repeats of 60 seconds running at 12.5kph, with 60 seconds of recovery after each repeat, running at 8.5kph. I then finished the session by running at 10.5kph until I clicked up 5k’s. Felt good.

Followed this up with some lower body weights. Hamstring curls, quad curls, leg press and the machine that works the inside of your thighs and the outside of your hips (can’t remember what it’s called).

Then it was down on the mat for some situps. There’s another article in Ultrafit about doing ab work and the most effective exercises are the Captains Chair and the bicycle (you know, where you lay on the floor and do a bicycle manouvre), followed by the plank. So I did all 3 of those.

Finished off with some stretching.

I think I might have mentioned that my boss is pregnant. Well I’m going out in sympathy with her and am having a phantom pregnancy!! I have preggy brain like you would not believe. If I can lose it, forget about it, drop it or trip over it then it happens. Can’t wait for her to have the baby so that I can get back to normal

Exercise: Bootcamp - Day 16

Why do I feel sad that Bootcamp has come to an end? Andrew you were right, I’m missing it already :-(

We still had to do our normal warm up, this morning’s being to split into 2 teams. One team then had to knock down cones while the other team had to stand them back up. Didn’t take long to warm up either!!

Then it was on to our fitness test comparison. First up we did pushups for a minute. Originally I did 35. This morning I could do 49…..woohoo!! :-)

Next we had to do a plank for as long as we could hold it. My first plank at the start of bootcamp lasted 2 minutes 5 seconds. Today I managed 3 minutes exactly…..double woohoo :-)

Finally we had to do 2 laps of the oval. Last time I did it in 4 minutes and 4 seconds. Now I can do it in 4 minutes and 3 seconds.

So overall I haven’t gotten any faster but I’ve definitely got stronger. What I’m going to do now is try and continue my circuit training at the gym. I’ve asked them, in the survey that we got given this morning, to consider putting on a circuit training class in the mornings. The Aerobics room is not used on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday morning, so I’d say it was just a matter of getting a trainer to take the class.

Now what’s all this talk of low carbing?? Actually I did low carb for a while when I was in the UK and I had good results….until one weekend when I binged on lollies and champers  It was a downward spiral after that :-(

I thoroughly enjoyed the low carb food plan though. Bacon and Eggs for breakfast, Chicken Salad for lunch, snacks of cheese and nuts, followed by a huge steak and salad or veggies for dinner with strawberries and cream for dessert…..doesn’t sound too bad now does it :-)

Exercise: Weights, Skipping, Situps

After dropping Alana off at Cubs I raced across the road to the gym and did an hour of weights, followed by 15 minutes of skipping. The shins were a little bit niggly while I was actually skipping, but once I’d finished the niggle stopped.

I actually had time to have a good stretch, which I neglect way too often.

Do you ever have one of those moments when you look at something and automatically know that there is something odd at what you’re looking at but can’t quite figure it out? Well I was driving to work this morning and I just happened to glance in my rear view mirror at a car which was a fair way behind me, but gaining quickly.

For some reason the first thing that popped into my head was “cop car”. Now this was a black holden late model sedan (sorry, wouldn’t have any idea which particular model) and there was nothing at all on the bonnet or on top of the roof to indicate it was a cop car.

So I’m just doing my usual speed (within 10km of the speed limit  ) and move over to the left so that this car can pass me, and of course it WAS a cop car. The markings were just on the side and on the back of the car, so anyone looking at the front of the car in their rearview mirror wouldn’t know it was a cop car

Luckily I was turning left and they carried straight on….phew!

Anyone got any ideas how I can lose 5kg in 3 weeks?

Exercise: Bootcamp - Day 15

The flies have arrived with the warm weather

How hard is it to do any kind of exercise when there’s flies buzzing around your face and ears. I made sure that I put insect repellent on before I left for bootcamp this morning and they still hassled me :-(

Second last day at bootcamp and we are now down to 6 people  Warmup was like being a horse. Okay maybe I should elaborate on that. One person had a skipping rope around their waist whilst running around the oval, whilst another person had to hold onto the skipping rope and keep tension on it so that the person running had to work harder to run.

Then my favourite, a big circuit. There were about 15 stations, along with 3 rest stations. One minute at each station. Following that we had tunnelball with 2 teams. Normal stuff really. Grab the ball, run to the end and back. Losing team had to do 60 seconds of pushups or squats. Then a slight variation. We had to carry the ball between our legs

Finally another lap of the oval starting with a jog, then side steps (both sides) then leg ups and bum kicks. On Thursday we’ll have another fitness test to compare with our first day. I wonder how many of the original 20 ladies will show up??

Now I’m going to show my age. Michelle and I have booked tickets to see Rod Stewart :-) We’re going to go to Rochford Winery to see him. It’ a much less formal atmosphere and we can take our own chairs and blanket. We can then saunter over to the bar whenever we feel like it and purchase champers too…..woohoo!!

Exercise: 11km Run/Walk - Treadmill (7’s Blue)

I wanted to do my long run yesterday, but with one thing and another I didn’t end up getting out to do it (yes I made every possible excuse that I could  ).

Even today, up until about 1pm I was still finding excuses not to do any exercise. It’s too hot, it’s going to rain, I have way too much ironing to do, there’s more washing needs doing, I have to clean the house, those weeds need to be pulled out……you get the idea

It was only when I sat down and thought about the consequences of not doing any exercise, along with what I’d eaten over the weekend that I realised if I didn’t do anything then I’d only whinge and moan to Hubby about how fat I was and how lazy I was. So I got changed and jumped on the treadmill in the garage.

It was hot and sweaty, but I had a fan on full blast in front of the treadmill and that really helped. I’d hoped to do about 20km but at the 11km mark I was absolutely dripping wet and felt quite dehydrated so ended it there.

OMG, there’s only 3 1/2 weeks before we head off to the UK  I still have no idea what to take with me other than very warm clothes. I suppose the good thing is that I can start packing already as I don’t need my winter wardrobe right now :-) I spoke to Hubby’s mum just before and she told me that they’re already having heavy frosts.

Alana’s Quote: “Mum can I fluff my nails?” (she meant Buff!!)

Exercise: 7km Run/Walk - Treadmill (8’s)

Why is it so hard to get out of bed at 5.30am? I had 7 hours sleep yet I still felt ridiculously tired this morning

Once I’d planted my feet on the treadmill I got a surge of energy (thank goodness!!). I did a 5 minute walk warmup which seems to really help my calves settle in for the long haul :-)

Started really slowly and gained a bit of speed near the end of the 7km.

I was a bit surprised that the gym was so busy this morning as it’s normally pretty dead on a Friday morning. There was even someone waiting to use the treadmills as they were all full. Haven’t seent that before - ever!

It was only when I was doing my stretch when I’d finished my run that I realised that there was no pump class on this morning. Lightbulb moment  Looks like it had been cancelled due to a no show from the instructor.

Now has anyone else noticed the increase in shoppers over the last couple of weeks? Every time I’ve been to the shopping centre I’ve found it harder and harder to get a parking spot close to the doors, not that I’m complaining that much as it’s more exercise for me :-) It is a bit of a pain in the ar*e though when you’re in a hurry to do things in your lunch hour and there’s tons of people everywhere!

I’ve been enjoying watching the latest series of Ugly Betty. Series 2 is currentlly being aired in the US and I’ve downloaded the first 7 episodes from TorrentPond…..yippee!! Have also been watching the current series of Top Gear. I absolutely adore that show it’s just hilarious. Alana is also a huge fan of the show and we have to cut a DVD so that she can watch it on her own DVD player otherwise she’d hog the PC all the time.

Alana’s Quote: “Mum can we buy a holiday house near the beach?” (Of course darling, I’ll just go and grab some money off the money tree! )

Exercise: Bootcamp - Day 14

Yesterday was a write off with regards to exercising.

I had a fantastic nights sleep on Tuesday night and when the alarm went off at 5.30am I decided to listen to my body as it was still wanting more sleep. Who am I to deny my body what it wants

Then yesterday afternoon I got a text from Michelle telling me that she might have just fried Gazz (her Garmin), so I asked her to come over to my place last night so that I could have a look at it. She suggested having dinner out somewhere, so we met up at Sophias and ate there, before heading back to my place.

The Garmin was fixed easily (just needed to be reset). For anyone with a Garmin who may need to do this sometime in the future, you just hold down the mode button and the lap button together for a couple of seconds. It should then restart properly when you push the ON button.

So to this morning’s bootcamp. Warmup was a couple of laps of the oval dragging a tyre. We paired up and then passed the tyre between each other. We had to tie a skipping rope around the tyre so that we could drag it.

Then it was all about the tyre this morning. We broke up into two teams and had to run with the tyre to a point, drop the tyre and then sprint back. The next person then had to sprint to the tyre, pick it up, sprint back and give it to the next person. We did that a couple of times.

Then it was more laps of the oval with a partner, this time carrying the tyre, which we had to swap to the other person when it got too heavy. We followed this up with laying on our back and doing chest presses with the tyre, while the other person did skipping, then changed and did squats whilst holding the tyre, then situps, holding the tyre in front.

More running round the oval with the tyre, this time with both people holding it together. As my partner had some issues with her ankles, I ended up running around the oval on my own, which wasn’t too bad as I was allowed to use the smallest tyre, which sat comfortably on my hip (just like carrying a child really :-) ).

Thought I’d show you how well my nails are doing at the moment. I’ve been using the Seacret nail products (when I remember) and I’m really impressed with them. I’m very lazy when it comes to my nails and very rarely keep them in any kind of condition, so for them to look this good with minimum exertion is just amazing!!

The first one was taken about two weeks ago and the second one was taken yesterday.

Exercise: 5.5km Run/Walk - Kalorama (7’s Yellow)

Sunday and Monday were a write off with regards to any form of exercise.

I was hoping to get to Bootcamp on Monday but I just didn’t have enough time as I had to meet some of my fellow workmates at 8am so that they could follow me to where our work conference was being held.

I really didn’t have any energy to do anything last night as I’d had a late night on Sunday night and was then up early yesterday morning so that I could get myself organised for the conference.

So I managed to convince one of my work colleagues to meet me at 6am this morning for a run around where we were staying.

I went to bed fairly early and was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the bed was and also the pillows. I always have a problem with sleeping away from home. I just can’t seem to get comfortable and the pillows just never feel right.

So anyway, I’m just about starting to snooze when all of a sudden I hear a noise, very light at first but gradually getting louder and louder. Can you believe that I had to be in the room right next to the loudest snorer in the whole world

I just could not believe it. Why me? Luckily I had my ear plugs with me and once I’d put them in my ears I settled back down to sleep. But this snorer was so loud that his snoring even penetrated through my ear plugs. I tried everything to drown out the noise, but to no avail. I think I managed about 4 hours sleep, on and off.

From 4am I watched TV until it was time to get up and meet my workmate for our run. I was not happy. I was really not happy. I felt like crap, and whereas I’d intended to do a 60 minute run, I cut it back as I just felt so drained of energy that I found it too hard going.

I’m going to bed early tonight. I need sleep!

Exercise: 20km Run/Walk - Yarra Trail (7’s Blue)

OMG, where do I start

I picked Michelle up on the way into town. We parked at the Casino (free, with compliments of my Crown membership :-) ). Walked over to the Crowne Plaza, which was where we were staying, only to be advised at check in that we’d been upgraded to the ‘Executive Floor’, which was on Level 7…..WOOHOO!!!!

I did something very smart (which is very rare for me!). I was already dressed in my running gear. I did this deliberately as I know myself very well and would have easily talked myself out of going for a run if I hadn’t already been dressed for it.

We decided to run along the Yarra and see where it took us. We were very excited  You have to remember that Michelle and I very rarely get to run around any of the city trails so when we got this opportunity we made the most of it.

Just a small lack of communication between myself and Michelle. I wanted to do my long run. Michelle wasn’t aware of the distance I wanted to run so had decided to make the most of her morning and had already been for a 20km run. I didn’t know this when we started running, so when she asked me how far I wanted to run, she was a little shocked when I mentioned 20km.

But Michelle being Michelle, she just came along with me for the ride. She rocks, that chick. Yep, she did a 40km run and still had enough energy to dance the night away :-)

So after our run we pop open the bubbly and enjoy a couple of glasses before we get ourselves showered up. We decided to get room service as there was some nice food on the menu, so there’s both of us, wrapped up in our complimentary fluffly white dressing gowns, loving every minute of the food, champers and the view, which was absolutely gorgeous, looking out over the Yarra and the casino!!

Unfortunately we hadn’t really allowed enough time to get ready and to the theatre before the show started, and then we went to the wrong theatre at first  Won’t go into more detail than than, but we eventually got there, with blisters on Michelle’s feet from all the walking and sweat running down our backs from hurrying!!

The show was awesome. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh and some great singalong songs.

We met up with JoJo when the show had finished and had a few drinks at the Irish pub. The music upstairs was a bit crap and it was very crowded so we moved on to another Irish pub, which was even worse. The band were awful and their amps and microphones wern’t working properly.

So another move, this time to the European. Much better atmosphere, plenty of room downstairs. We made our way upstairs and there was a great band playing, followed afterwards by a DJ and some really excellent dance music.

Lots of time and alcohol later, we decided to call it a night. We walked back down towards the station, where we left JoJo to catch a cab (JoJo it was 3am). Michelle and I then went in search of food, which we found at the Casino - well just outside the casino actually. And boy did it taste great. Chicken and Advocado toasted Pannini….YUM!

I think we ended up getting to bed at about 4am……….

I have photos (as does JoJo) which I’ll post later

Exercise: 8.1km Run/Walk - Treadmill (8’s)

Do you ever have one of those runs where everything feels great and you think that you can run forever? :-)

Yep, that’s what my run was like this morning….and it was on the treadmill too, so I was pretty amazed. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it, even though I was running on the treadmill.

I just wish I had those type of runs every time that I ran.

Work today was absolutely manic. I didn’t end up leaving until 7pm. We have a 2 day conference on Monday and because some people didn’t get their presentations to me until really late, it was left to me, my boss and a couple of my team to stay back and make sure all the presentation material was printed and bound.

Michelle and I are off out for a girly night tomorrow. We’re gong to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and then we’re staying up in town for the night, so who knows what we’ll end up doing afterwards

Exercise: 21.5km Run/Walk - Local Streets (7’s Blue)

Seeing as Sunday was a total washout and that was supposed to be my long walk/run, I made the most of today’s public holiday. The weather was just perfect. Not too cold, not too hot :-)

I didn’t have an actual plan of where I was going to walk other than to get to my parent’s house for a loo stop. It would normally measure about 7.6km, taking the same way that I always have, but this morning I decided to add on a bit more, taking an alternative route. Got to my parents place and Gav measured it to be 11.1km.

I wasn’t sure which way to walk home, so hopped onto mapmyrun (great website) and mapped out a course home. It told me that it would take me another 10.5km to get home…..perfect :-)

This was the view I had pretty much the whole time, although I was quite a bit closer at times.

Once home I had a quick shower and a bite to eat and then went out into the garden and had an enjoyable afternoon pulling weeds out of the front garden

How did everyone go with their betting on the cup? We had a $5 sweep and a $1 sweep at work so I entered both. Would you believe that both my horses were scratched….not fair :-(

I had a bit more luck with my own betting. Purple Moon was the horse that I have had my eye on all week. Hubby had been given a tip, so he put some cash on Mahler. Alana just wanted horse number 1 to win. Didn’t matter what it was called as long as it was number one!!

My back is quite painful tonight, what with walking this morning and bending over to pull weeds out all afternoon. I actually had to lay down for a little while as I couldn’t move very well and it hurt tons.

I think an early night is on the cards :-)

And before I forget, a huge thanks to JoJo for her generous donation to our Trailwalker campaign…..thanks chicky :-)

Exercise: Bootcamp - Day 11

After yesterday’s torrential rain I was sure that it was going to be really wet this morning, but surprisingly it was nearly dry. The wind was quite chilly though.

Warmup was a lap around the oval. Then it was straight into a circuit. All the normal circuit exercises, with a few additional sprints to the light pole or to the middle of the oval etc.

We then had a good solid 15 minutes of ab work. Starting off in a hover, when the instructor blew the whistle we had to roll over onto our sides and do a side hover, then we would either roll on to our backs and do a crab, or do side pushups in the hover position….not nice

Finally we did another lap of the oval, following the instructor, who kept yelling out different things to do i.e. side lunges, bum kicks, high leg kicks, stopping to do burpees, run to the centre of the oval and back.

It was a full on session, which I just love :-)

Unfortunately I had to take it a little bit easier this morning as I’ve woken up with a sore left lower back. I was down on my hands and knees cleaning floor tiles last night and I think I may have just tweaked a muscle somehow.

Luckily I’m seeing Corrie tonight so hopefully she can take the pain away :-)

Exercise: 4.65km Run - Treadmill, 20 Min HIIT session - Cross Trainer (7’s Blue)

I had the opportunity to get down to the gym this morning so I made full use of it.

Okay, so maybe I almost didn’t take advantage of the opportunity  When the alarm went off I considered going back to sleep, but I realised that if I didn’t get out of bed, I wouldn’t get another opportunity today, and to be honest once I’d actually got out of bed and put my clothes on, I felt much better.

I started off slowly on the treadmill, increasing in very small increments. After 30 minutes I was only doing 10.6kph so you can image how slowly I started off

Hopped on the cross trainer and did a 20 minute HIIT session. My legs were a little bit wobbly when I’d finished, but I felt like I’d had a great workout and I was dripping with sweat. This may have been due to the warmth of the gym rather than my exertion but I’m going to go with the second option anyway :-)

I’m still having a bit of pain in my shins, not too bad, but it’s still there. I have been a bit slack with the self massage and haven’t put any Arnica cream on for a little while, so I must get back into the habit of doing both before bed. It really made a difference when I was doing it regularly. I’m seeing Corrie on Monday so hopefully she can work her magic!

Here’s a photo of the flowers that my boss bought me. Aren’t they gorgeous.

Exercise: Bootcamp - Day 10

I went to bed way too late last night and had to force myself out of the bed when the alarm went off.

Numbers are still dwindling at Bootcamp. No excuses this morning for daylight savings! We began with our usual game of tiggy, but this time it was Donkey Tiggey. Everyone got a ribbon and had to put it in the top of their pants behind them. The object of the game was to try and steal somebody elses, so you had to be constantlly on your guard. I only lasted a little while as I wasn’t really enjoying it. Once your ribbon had been grabbed, it was laps of the oval until the game finished. I was more than happy to run around the oval :-)

Then we were broken up into teams (groan!). Three teams this morning. There were 4 cones placed a distance apart. First person had to run to the first cone and bring it back to the start, then run back for the second cone, then the third etc. The next person then had to grab one of the cones and put it back where it started, run back to the start, grab the second cone and put it back where it started etc etc. Then the game changed slightly. This time we had to do 10 burpees before we picked up the cones. Our team won twice and drew the third time. The teams kept getting swapped around so we always had new people in each team for each new race.

We then got to stay in our teams and did a circuit…..each exercise was for 2 minutes  It’s amazing how hard pushups become after 2 minutes. Lunges I could do no problem. Jump squats  Situps were okay. 2 minutes of dips had the triceps screaming

We were then told that we were going to do a comparison of how our fitness was now, compared to when we first started. So we had to run 2 laps of the oval as fast as we could, then 60 seconds of pushups, then into a plank position to see how long you could hold the pose

I’m not sure if my running time has improved as it wasn’t timed. I know that I did more pushups but my plank hold was dismal. I think last time we did everything at the start of the session, whereas this time it was at the end of the session so I was pretty exhausted……well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!!

Here’s the photo that I couldn’t download earlier this week. As you can see, champagne got left behind :-(
