Exercise: 7km Run - Treadmill (6’s)

The mind of an unmotivated woman works in mysterious ways…..the conversation I had with myself this morning went like this:

Wake up 10 minutes before alarm goes off

“Okay J, why don’t you jump out of bed now, as I can tell you want to go back to sleep”

“Why can’t I just lay here quietly until the alarm goes off?”

“I know that you want to go to the toilet, so why don’t you jump out now?”

Alarm goes off….

“I think I’ll go to the gym at lunchtime instead and run on the treadmill then. I’ve got an hour for lunch today so that should be plenty of time to get a good run in”

“You’ve got to get up and go to the toilet anyway, so why don’t you just go and get your gym clothes on while you’re up?”

“I’m really comfortable in bed right now and I’m sure that I can hold on for another hour”

“Nope, that’s not going to happen….you know you have to go to the toilet NOW”

“Okay, okay I’m just going to go to the toilet and then I’m jumping back into bed. I’m going to the gym at lunchtime”

“But wouldn’t it be easier to go now, then you don’t have to worry about being all hot and sweaty at work after your run”

“I really don’t feel like going to the gym”

“Okay, why don’t you just jump on the treadmill in the garage. Then you can wear whatever you like and you’ve got a little bit more time to spare (not having to drive to the gym and home again)”

“Yeah I suppose that makes sense….okay I’ll do that”

So I ended up running on the treadmill at home. Unfortunately due to the stuffing around before I actually made that decision, I didn’t get as long as I’d liked on the treadmill, but it was still better than not running at all.

I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, but whenever I use the toilets at work, the little automatic air freshner thing goes off….do you think it’s trying to tell me something

I finally got a response from the people who are selling the Jump Snap Rope. It’s going to be sold in Australia through www.globalshopdirect.com.au. It will be availabe in a month’s time. Not sure of price though.

Alana’s Quote: “Mum why do your boobs hang like that!”

Exercise: 8km Run - MMCT (7’s Blue)

This morning’s run went much better than I thought it might, mainly due to the fact that I’d run yesterday morning on the treadmill and didn’t know how my legs were going to feel. It brings me down a little to remember back to when I could run every day and not even think about it and yet now I have to consider all of the problems that may be associated with running more than once every two days….sigh :-(

I have some bruises on my knees….okay, get those thoughts back out of the gutter!!

I helped Hubby grout the floor tiles last night. What a horrible job that is! Surely somebody can invent a gun that you put all the grout into and then just squirt between the tiles…..no mess, no fuss!! I’m considering going out and getting a cake decorating kit to see if that’s any good. :-)

Hubby and I are going to the Melbourne Show on Saturday. I’m very excited. I love going to the show. We’re hoping that by going on Saturday the crowds will be a little bit less due to the Grand Final being on. We’ve also come up with a grand plan. We want to get there when it opens and go straight to the Showbag Pavillion, buy all the showbags we need, then hire a locker and store them in there for the day, wander around all the pavillions, go on the rides, see all the shows etc and then at the end of the day empty the locker and walk straight to the car with all the showbags. That way we don’t have to cart showbags around all day or try and make our way through the Showbag Pavillion when it’s absolutely choc a block full of people!!

Alana’s Quote: “Mum what would you do if you got fired?” (does she know something I don’t???)

Exercise: 8.2km Run - Treadmill (7’s Yellow)

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do when I got to the gym this morning, but the treadmill called out to me when I walked in the door so that was that.

It was very slow….I mean really slow!!

If anyone has seen the Bourne Ultimatum what did they think of it? I enjoyed it but I think that the other two were better. Not sure if they can make a 4th one out of the ending or not….

I had absolutely no energy yesterday. I was going to run with Michelle but texted her to cancel as my body just wasn’t coping at all with normal day to day things, let alone anything that required exertion :-(

I did manage to mow the back lawn. Couldn’t be bothered doing the front though. And I pulled some weeds out. I’m about 3/4 of the way down the garden now, so will probably still need a few more weekends to get rid of all the weeds. I am never going to let the garden get this overgrown again, that’s for sure!!!

Exercise: 6km Run/Walk - Treadmill (7’s Blue)

Hopped on the treadmill at home this afternoon, as I haven’t had any time to get to the gym today. I really should utilise my treadmill much more than I do as it’s just so convenient to walk to the garage rather than have to get myself organised to go to the gym.

My shins have been a little bit niggly over the past couple of days, but they seemed much better today. Still a slight bruise on my left shin, but I’m hoping that will go away soon (how long does a bruise last???).

Alana is having a sleepover tonight so hubby and I are child free :-)

We’re going to make the most of it and go to the movies to see the Bourne Ultimatum, followed by a nice dinner somewhere.

Exercise: 6.5km Walk - Local Streets (7’s Yellow)

Unfortunately I got a text from Michelle saying that she couldn’t meet me for a run this morning, but I still got dressed and went out for a walk. It was a beautiful morning, maybe a little bit chilly on the hands, but it was dry and clear :-) I even saw 2 hot air balloons in the sky.

This was the sunrise:

Kathy, in regard to your question about how many pairs of trainers I have stashed in my cupboard - currently I have 3 brand new pairs just waiting to be taken out of their boxes  Well I just couldn’t pass by a bargain now, could I :-)

One of my work colleagues is leaving today so we all trooped up to La Porchetta for lunch. I tried to do the right thing and ordered the Vegetarian Canneloni (filled with Ricotta & Spinach). It was pretty bland though. What I really wanted was the Hawaiian Pizza

I’m having one of those days at work where there is tons of stuff to be done and I just keep pushing paperwork around my desk, getting nothing completed….roll on 5pm :-)

I’ve found something new to buy…..

This is a Jump Snap Rope

I’ve emailed them to ask if they ship to Australia. As you all probably know I’ve taken up skipping but do struggle a little bit as my feet get caught up in the rope. This looks like a great alternative…..

Exercise: 30 Min Power Walk - Treadmill, 20 Min HIIT - Cross Trainer ( 6’s)

My legs are now really feeling the effects of playing Netball on Monday night and doing hard weight workout on Tuesday morning. I wanted to run on the treadmill when I got to the gym but thought that a good strong walk would be much better for them. I have to admit that it took a while before I could actually stride out. The legs just didn’t want to work that hard

Something is very wrong. I’ve put more weight on. Something is definitely going wrong somewhere. I thought I was doing well with my exercise. I realised when I looked back through my diet and exercise book that my eating is what’s wrong. There wasn’t a day where I didn’t eat some kind of “treat”, whether it be lollies, cake, chocolate, chips etc. So I’ve made a few changes to my eating habits this week. I’m having a protein shake for brekkie, then eating a banana or a small muesli bar mid morning. Lunch time seems to be my big downfall so I’ve had Boost Juice Smoothies. I went home one day for lunch and had strawberries and yoghurt. I’m also trying to cut down on the coffee intake. I never used to drink much coffee, but I seem to have become a bit addicted to McDonalds Skinny Lattes.

My biggest change has been that I’m trying to drink all of my 1.5 litre bottle of water at work. To be honest I really haven’t had too much difficulty downing it. Just need to remember to keep my glass full (and not tip it over  )

I’m also considering going to a dietician for some advice. I’m the kind of person that sticks to something if it’s written down in black and white, so if someone creates a diet eating plan for me that will keep me full and is enjoyable, then I’ll stick to it. Just wish I could afford to have someone make all my meals for me too.

Alana’s Quote: “Mum it’s dribbling!” (it was spitting rain).

Exercise: 7km Run/Walk - MMCT (7’s Yellow)

Michelle and I always laugh about this, but when we are meeting each other for a run the first thing we do is check our phones to see if there’s a text message to say that either of us is not going to run :-) Yet I know that if I don’t run then I am grumpy for the rest of the day and keep kicking myself that I’ve made an excuse not to run. I know Michelle feels the same way too.

Take this morning. I had no excuses. I could have made up lots though. It’s too windy, it looks like rain, my muscles are aching from my weight training yesterday, I’ve got an upset tummy (all these were true!!) but I realised that I actually did want to run

Unfortunately the run didn’t go to plan. Instead of my now normal 5 minute walking warm up, we started running straight away. Within about 3km my ankles were really aching and I had to stop and have a good stretch of them, also giving them a really good twisting (you know, when you twist your feet round and round).

We decided to turn around and head back to the cars, and we walked for a while. The ankles felt better after a bit of walking so we started jogging again. No pain anymore. We ran another km past the cars as the ankles were feeling fine by then. So all up just over 7km, done very slowly

Does anyone have any good ideas for Xmas corporate gifts? I’m basically in charge of getting it all organised and even though my boss and I have been to the promotions company that we use, there’s just nothing that really stands out. We’ve done the letter opener, business card holder, mobile phone holder, golf stuff…….we’re just looking for something new and innovative, something that people will want to keep, rather than palm off to someone else!

Exercise: Weight Workout

I thought I might run on the treadmill this morning, but when I got out of bed I could see that I had some bruising on my shin, so decided to rest the legs and give the old muscles a bit of a work out instead. It’s been a while since I actually used weights and I can already feel a bit of muscle ache, especially in my back.

I dropped Alana off at the Movies after work as she had an outing with the Cubs tonight. Thought that I might make the most of the time and head back down to the gym, but once I got home I thought I’d take advantage of the peace and quiet (hubby is playing squash) and have just chilled out for a while. I have to go and pick her up shortly.

It’s nearly time for me to bring a new pair of Hurricane Grids out of the cupboard. My 6’s are almost ready for retirement. They have been a fantastic pair of trainers and they still feel great when I put them on. I just don’t want to do any damage to my legs, so will transfer them over to the “gardening pile” instead.

Exercise: Netball Game (6’s)

I’d been asked if I could fill in for the Netball team that I normally play in. I haven’t played right throughout the winter season as I find that I really don’t enjoy having to go out in the dark and cold to get to the netball courts. Another factor of not playing has been my torn calf.

Anyway now that I’m all better I thought it would be great to catch up with the team and have a bit of a run around. I played Goal Keeper, which suited me just fine. Still got a bit of a run but didn’t have to bust a gut. We drew our match, which was great as we played a very good team (they should have won the Grand Final last season but pulled out).

I sat and watched Australian Idol when I got home and was not surprised to see that Brianna was voted out. I also iced my shins whilst watching TV. They are a little bit tender but not anything that I feel I need to worry about.

Have looked up the official results on the Spring into Shape website and I came 14th out of 119 in my age group and 74th out of 509 in the Female category……can’t ask for better than that :-)

Exercise: 4km Spring Into Shape Fun Run (7’s Blue)

I was checking out the Ausrun Forum last night and reading the Spring Into Shape thread. A thought went through my head….why not enter the 4km run. It’s not too early (9am start), I’ve got nothing planned (apart from housework) and it’s not too far that I couldn’t run the whole way, and the best part is that the course is flat :-)

So I decided to do it. Got all my stuff ready last night and got myself to bed at a decent hour. Of course the nerves must have kicked in some time during the night as I was wide awake at 5.30am. I laid in bed for a little while, still questioning whether I should actually do the run, but as I was wide awake and couldn’t really do much else at that time of the day, I got up and got myself organised to go. Of course there were also the obligitory 30 dashes to the loo

I texted Em to let her know that I was going, and also to make sure that she was definitely going to be there. Didn’t want to look like Billy no mates

Got to the Tan very early, so I sat in the car and read my book for a while. Texted Em again to make sure that I was at the right place as there was nothing set up at all  A few more people had started to park their cars around me and were making their way over the road, so I got out and followed the crowd, realising that the run was starting a bit further down the way this year than what it had been the last few years, which is why I couldn’t see anything being set up.

Found the registration tent and got my number and then just hung around for a little while until Em showed up. It wasn’t very warm though and the wind was one of those cold biting ones that goes straight through you :-( Luckily just as everyone was lining up it started to warm up a bit. Bumped into Andrew just before we all lined up and had a bit of a chat. Then the serious stuff began

I plugged into my MP3, which I had set up so that specific songs played one after the other (smart cookie me!!). When I first set off there were tons of these little kids running around me, which was a bit worrying. Even though I had Gav strapped to my wrist I didn’t actually check my pace until nearly the 3km marker, and I was sure that what I read was wrong. It was only when I got to the finish chute that I realised Gav had been correct.

I came over the line in an official time of 21.38. I just couldn’t believe the time. I’ve never run this fast before….EVER!!!

My splits, according to Gav were:

5.21
5.22
5.21
5.35

I did struggle up that little incline near the Transport Bar, but knowing that it was pretty much downhill once I’d got to the top I just gritted my teeth and hung on till I got to the top of the hill.

Caught up with Em when I’d finished. She also had a great run. Grabbed a showbag and some juice, then joined the small queue to get my bag. I changed pretty quickly as I got cold as soon as I’d stopped running. Saw Andrew as well and he’d had a great run too.

I was going to just jump in my car and go home but I knew that Kathryn and Kathy were both running the 8km and I wanted to give them a cheer, so I stood by the side of the footpath and waited for them to run by. Amazingly, they went past together, so I assumed that they’d caught up with each other before the race and had agreed to run the race together. It was only when I’d read Kathy’s post that I realised they hadn’t met up at all and it was just by pure chance that they went past me together :-)

I realised that Kathy didn’t know who I was when I yelled out to her, by the confused look on her face. Kathryn just gave me a cheeky grin :-) Hope I didn’t scare you too much Kathy

I’ve just finished watching Australian Idol and I have to say that this was the most crappiest one that I’ve seen. They were supposed to be singing Rock and if Supertramp and Cold Play are classed as Rock then I’m going to slit my wrists, which is what most people probably do when they listen to Cold Play  I reckon the only person who actually rocked the place was the last guy who sang an AC/DC song, and even he didn’t seem to put everything into it.

If I look into my crystal ball then I reckon that Brianna is going to go tomorrow night.

Exercise: 10km Run/Walk - Croydon Hills (6’s)

I got up this morning at 6am as I was running with Michelle. Got dressed and then got my stuff together. It was only when I checked for messages on my phone that I saw Michelle’s text that she couldn’t run with me.

Hmmm, now what? It was 6.15am and I was fully dressed to run. So I ran. Normally I would have taken my clothes off and gone back to bed, but this morning I just opened the front door and off I went.

Wasn’t sure where to run at first, but decided to tackle some hills. I had no idea how far the distance was, but I had an idea of where I wanted to run. Luckily I had nearly 2 hours before I had to be home so I wasn’t in a hurry at all, which was great. I walked up some of the hills, ran very slowly up some of them and ran on the flat bits and the downhill bits.

My only problem came at about the 7km mark when nature called. Just had to keep going until I got home

Hope you all have a great weekend, and good luck to everyone running the Spring into Shape or the Burnley Half.

Alana’s Quote: “You can’t be serious” (spoken in the same tone as John McEnroe  )

Exercise: 8.3km Run/Walk - Local Streets (7’s Yellow)

How lucky were we with the weather this morning!! Michelle drove over to my place and we just ran some local streets….very slowly I might add

When I walked out of the front door, I discovered that it had been raining overnight. The question was whether it was going to rain on us while we were out running, and did I don the rain jacket?? Decided to take a chance and not wear it, and luckily it stayed dry the whole time we were out there!

It started raining about an hour after we got back….phew!!

I was telling CV, when I saw her on Monday for my massage, about how little water I’d been drinking lately, due mainly to it just being cold and me not really feeling up to swigging down loads of cold water, which would only make me colder. She gave me an idea which I’ve now implemented at work and I’m happy to report that it’s helped me heaps.

I normally drink straight from my water bottle, which holds 1.5 litres. Now what I’ve done is get a glass and every time I need to go away from my desk, I’ll fill the glass and slug the water straight down in one go. I get up from my desk quite often and I’ve found, just today, that I’ve already drunk over a litre of water…..and it hasn’t been a hardship at all :-)

I’ve just found out that my boss is pregnant. Fantastic news considering she’s had a lot of problems trying to conceive. The only downside is that I can see my workload increasing rapidly

Exercise: 8km Run/Walk - Treadmill (7’s Blue)

I nearly didn’t get out of bed when the alarm went off this morning but then remembered that I had to go into the gym to pay for my Bootcamp. Yep, that’s the only reason I went - pretty bad isn’t it!!

However, once there I jumped on the treadmill, determined to do some distance. Warmed up for 5 minutes by walking then ran for 25 mins, walked again for 4 minutes and then ran for another 20 minutes. My speed is pretty slow right now. It feels like I’m flying when I’ve got the treadmill at 10kph, but I’m hoping that it won’t be long before it becomes more comfortable.

I have a feeling that my 10km run at the Melbourne Marathon is going to be a VERY slow one

Oh yeah, I got my number in the mail on Friday :-)

I have always followed everyones blogs by using Bloglines, but lately I’ve been having a few problems with it and I can’t access it properly when I’m at work (It doesn’t show me my list of blogs at all). Anyway I’ve now moved over to Google Reader. It’s just as easy to use and I can access it at work no problem. I’ve also changed my home page to iGoogle (previously it was Google). Now that’s lots of fun. I’ve added alot of nice little gadgets to my home page, which is really cool!

I’ve found something new to buy :-) Anyone heard of these before? I’ve emailed them to ask what their shipping costs are. I like the Visors that they’ve got as they’re made from Coolmax. I may wait until I’m back in the UK at Christmas and see if I can pick them up in a shop somewhere, otherwise I’ll just order them while I’m over there and have them delivered to Hubby’s parents house.

I lurve shopping!! :-)

Exercise: 5km Run - Treadmill, 20 Min HIIT - Cross Trainer (7’s Yellow)

I’ve had a very slack couple of days. Did absolutely nothing on Sunday or yesterday apart from some gardening, lawn mowing and general house cleaning.

I had many opportunities to get out there and do something, but I’ve gone into a bit of a slump, mainly about my weight and lack of ability to lose any. I just seem to be stuck on the same weight, which is about 5kg more than it was 6 months ago.

Of course instead of looking at my diet and exercise in more detail and trying to put together something that will help me, I decide not to do any exercise and eat pretty crap food instead

On a good note, I’ve definitely signed up for the Boot Camp. And the only reason that happened was because the lady at Fernwood rang me again to confirm that I was definitely going to come along. I just kept putting off going into the gym to pay the money, not because I didn’t want to pay, but more because then I’d actually have to do it, which means committing to 8 weeks of having to be there twice a week come hail or shine (and knowing my luck it will probably rain too!!).

My bed is calling me….sweet dreams!

PS: Just for Stu….Chocolate, Champers, Chocolate, Champers…..YUMMMM!! :-)

Exercise: 8.1km Run/Walk - MMCT (7’s Yellow)

So alot more running than walking this morning. I was out there by 6.30am, meeting Michelle at our favourite place. It was a beautiful, peaceful morning, although it was still really cold.

My calves and shins are now pretty much totally better, although I’m having a few small niggles in the hammys, but I think that might be because I used the Ski Machine thingy at the gym on Thursday night and it mainly works the hammys and quads. I will make sure to stretch the hammys properly and regularly though. I really don’t want any more injuries, that’s for sure.

I’m a little bit concerned. Everyone else who entered the Melbourne Marathon and 1/2 Marathon is talking about receiving their race numbers in the mail. I haven’t received mine yet though :-( I’m hoping that it’s because I’ve changed from the 1/2 Marathon to the 10km run and they haven’t yet sent out those race numbers…..is anyone else doing the 10km and have they received their race number yet???

Okay, gotta go, lots of things to do around the house.

Alana’s Quote: “Mum this is an absolute nightmare!”

Exercise: 25 Min Cross Trainer, 15 Min Run/Walk Treadmill, 10 Min Ski Machine Thingy, Situps (6’s)

I had an opportunity to go to the gym tonight so I grabbed it (very unlike me!!). I was considering doing a Body Attack class, but having run this morning, thought this might not be the best idea I’ve ever had

Instead I did a HIIT session on the cross trainer, embarassing myself to the max when my water bottle fell to the floor due to my exertion, making a ton of noise as it hit the cross trainer and spraying water everywhere

Wasn’t sure if I should use the treadmill, but thought it might be okay just to keep the legs ticking over. I ran really slowly (honest!!) and did a warm up and cool down walk too. I only ran for 10 minutes - okay it was a continuous 10 minutes, but if I don’t start building up my run times then I’m never going to be able to run 10km continuously by October

Okay, I’m now hooked on So You Think You Can Dance. If you don’t want to see who wins, don’t click on the link!! My Dad is very kindly downloading the entire series for me but until he’s finished doing that I’m watching the shows each week. Last night was excellent. Wish I could dance like that!!

I have been reading a fantastic blog which has inspired me to want to do something very much outside my comfort zone. Okay, are you all sitting down!! I want to hike from Melbourne to Sydney. Not along the roads though, over the mountains. Yes I know it’s a crazy thing to do, but for some reason it just really appeals to me. Anyone else interested?? Come on, someone must be as crazy as me for wanting to do this….surely!! :-)

Exercise: 7km Run/Walk - MMCT (7’s Blue)

Yes another 7km run this morning. That’s 2 days running in a row now

It was even colder this morning than yesterday morning too. How is it that the mornings before I start running outside have been really mild and yet the only 2 days I’ve run outside this winter and it’s been frigging freezing  I did all the right things yesterday after my run i.e. icing and rubbing Comfrey cream into my shins and I have to say that they didn’t feel sore at all this morning while I was running. My hammys, however, are another matter. They felt a little bit tight but as soon as I remembered to squeeze the butt and engage the core, the hammy soreness did tend to ease a little bit…..how about that hey!!!

The tennis ball is getting a good working out today, alternating between the butt and the hammys. I’m off to see CV again on Monday evening so am hoping that she’ll be able to do some small repairs to the hammys :-)

I love living so close to work. I went home at lunch time today and was able to chuck a load of washing in and get it out on the line too. While it was doing it’s thing I also managed to do a few of the things I’ve been putting off for a while like putting all the ironing away that I did last week and also putting away all the smalls that came in off the line last week. Now there’s just a load more ironing to do :-(

I planted some Boronia plants near the front door last year and they smell absolutely gorgeous right now. Every time I walk in or out of the front door, I get a huge whiff of Boronia :-) I might go and buy some more and plant them in the back yard too.

And while we’re speaking of plants, what’s with the lack of rain :-( We were doing so well with the water storage and all of a sudden it’s come to an almightly stop. Please Mr Rainman, make it rain again (but only at night).

Alana’s Quote: “Mum, now look what you’ve done, my concentration’s all gone!!”

Exercise: 7km Run/Walk - MMCT (7’s Yellow)

Another very cold morning. I think it got down to 1 degree out here in the sticks

I met Michelle at our favourite spot and decided that my aim was to run until I felt the need to walk. The running was slow, but consistent and the walking was minimal. I’d have liked to run for longer but reason took over and I decided to stop at 7km.

As I haven’t run outside for ages, it was wonderful to see that it’s getting light by about 6.15am now.

I finally pulled my finger out and did my tax last night. Not sure why, but I’ve been putting it off for ages, but decided that last night was the night. I have to admit to being nicely surprised by how easy it was to do it online. The Tax Office can now even tell you how much interest you earned in any bank accounts that you have open in your name  There’s definitely no room for cheating any more, that’s for sure.

I’m not really bothered about going to see a Tax Agent, even though I know they could probably find lots more things to claim than I do. I’m happy with what I’m going to get back and can walk away knowing that I haven’t done a dodgy with anything :-)

Exercise: 1 Hr Walk/Run - Treadmill (7’s Blue)

I didn’t get the opportunity to go to the gym this morning (all the usual excuses), so when I got home from work I went and changed into my gym gear straight away. I then got tea organised etc etc. When Hubby came home I went straight out.

Normally I would procrastinate for a while and find other things to do, then I would make excuses that I was too tired, or it was getting too late, or there was something on the TV that I wanted to watch. Not tonight though. I knew that I could watch Australian Idol at the gym as they have the treadmills with individual TV’s in them.

It was fairly busy but not too busy that I couldn’t get on a treadmill straight away. Wasn’t sure how long I wanted to run for so just played it by ear. I warmed up first by doing 5 mins of walking. Stopped and had a stretch and then ramped it up to 9kph

I was just going to do 6 min run and 2 min walk but thought I’d try for 10 min run and 2min walk. It felt good, infact it felt very good :-) I did this for a while and then I eased it back to 6 min run and 2 min walk. I am so pleased that I can actually still run for a decent period of time, okay I’m going to have to start cutting out some of the walking soon if I want to get to my goal of being able to run for 10km without any walk breaks, but it’s a start, and I’ve still got 5 weeks to get there, all being well.

I bought a packet of the new snacks that they’re advertising on TV. They’re called Pitos Pita Chips I tried the Tzatziki flavour, which were okay. Might try the smokehouse ones next. I got them in Safeway, but they weren’t cheap at $3.99 per packet.

Alana’s Quote: “You go and have a good time now, but just mind your calf!” (Yes Mum!!)

Exercise: 35km Bike Ride - Warby Trail

It was very chilly at 7.30 this morning.

Michelle ran and I rode my bike next to her along the warby trail. It took ages for me to warm up, even though the sun was shining. It was still very cold in the shade. I forgot to put on my Thorlo socks, so my feet never warmed up at all and my hands only warmed up over the last 2km.

The trail was very busy with families out in full force. Just wish some of the parents could remember to keep to the left unless overtaking

I was very tempted to swap with Michelle and run a few km while she cycled, but I restrained myself. I have decided not to run 2 days in a row yet, just to give my calf (and my shins) a bit more time to heal.

Okay, Ebay is calling me :-) (I’m selling, not buying!!)

Exercise: 7km Run/Walk - Treadmill

When I got out of bed this morning I realised that my shins wern’t sore - at all!! This was a good sign.

Got to the gym and decided that I was going to have a run on the treadmill to see how my shins reacted to running. Started off with a 5 min walk warm up. So far, so good! Then upped the pace to a leisurely 9kph. Still good. Did 6 min running with 2 min walk in between.

All good :-)

Why is it that Men have no idea how to use a trolley in a supermarket? Why do they hog the whole aisle and leave their trolleys right in the middle whilst browsing the shelves? I feel that there should be a “learn to use a trolley” leaflet handed out to all males as they enter the supermarket. It would definitely make shopping a bit less stressful, especially if you’re in a hurry!

I was driving behind a bus this morning on the way to taking Alana roller skating and there was a big advertisement on the back of the bus for a new movie that is being shown from the 2th September. It’s called Stardust and I saw a trailer for it a while back and it looks really good. Might even have to get some tickets to Gold Class to watch it. I’m also looking forward to the Bourne Ultimatum.

Watched a movie last night called Evan Almighty. It’s a follow on from Bruce Almighty. It was okay, a few funny moments but nothing really worth writing home about. I’ve got Oceans Thirteen to watch tonight :-)
