Exercise: 9.6km Run - MMCT (7’s Blue)
I was meeting Michelle for an easy run this morning at 7am. For some reason, however, my body woke me at the exact time that my alarm would normally go off during the week. Does it not realise that it’s the weekend and I get a sleep in!
What joy to run in daylight for a change. We missed all the rain too, which was great. It was a bit of a slog though. Wasn’t until about the 8km mark that both of us felt warmed up and able to run a bit faster than a crawl.
I decided to wear my new Hurricane 7’s today as they need to worn in soon so that I can add them to my shoe rotation. Unfortunately they didn’t feel very comfortable. I’m not sure if this is because of my foot, or whether the shape of them has changed slightly, or because I’ve got a new heel riser in them that hasn’t worn in yet. Will continue to wear them in and see what happens.
Went roller skating again today. The legs did complain a little bit, mainly shins. Might have to find some strengthening exercises for the shins so that I don’t injure them. Alana had a great time as my brother came over from the other side of town with his two girls and my sister in law came down with her two kids as well.
I’ve carbed up for tomorrow now. Went to Fasta Pasta for lunch after roller skating, and have also now scoffed down a lovely fresh croissant and a custard donut. Just need to get a litre of powerade into me and I’m sorted
Alana’s quote: “Why did god create head lice?”
Me: “I don’t know”
Alana: “There must be an evil god and a nice god!”
Exercise: 10km Run - Local Streets (6’s)
I wanted to run some hills this morning. Michelle didn’t want to run hills as she’d done her 40km long run yesterday. I was happy to oblige, so we didn’t run hills
After having 3 days of complete rest, doing lots of stretching and rolling of tennis ball under foot, I have to say that when I got up this morning there was hardly any pain at all in my foot. I did feel it a bit while I was running, but it didn’t actually hurt. So hopefully if I continue to stretch and roll the ball underneath my foot, I should be able to continue running. I’ll see how my foot feels after the R4K on Sunday. That will be the ultimate test.
I want to run up 74 flights of stairs. After watching the Biggest Loser last night, I have a goal to do this. I know that there is a competition once a year in the city where you run up the stairs of one of the tall buildings. Might have to look into when that is being held. I don’t know what the attraction is, but it grabbed me as soon as I saw what they were going to do.
Tomorrow is the last day of our March challenge. No chocolate bars, chocolate cakes or anything covered in chocolate has passed my lips. And to tell you the truth, it wasn’t difficult to say no. I did, however, replace all the chocolate with sweet things - lollies, other types of cakes and biscuits. Maybe I’ll do an April challenge where I don’t eat any of that stuff. Or maybe I could do one where I make sure that I eat fruit and veg every day AND don’t eat the crap. My god, what am I saying….shut up J while you’re still ahead
Alana’s Quote: “What, you can’t change a light bulb Mum?” (said in total disbelief). In my defence it’s one of those lights where you have to take the glass light cover off and then replace it and it’s very fiddly.
I’ve been reading up quite a bit on PF (there’s a good thread on the Coolrunning Messageboards) and I’ve decided that I’m going to keep on running through the pain. I can already hear you all tut tutting
I want to see if the pain gets any worse if I continue running, rather than resting it, or if it stays the same, or even gets better
I’ve bought a Pronation/Spring Control (PSC) Foot Wrap from the US, and will see if it makes a difference. I thought it would be easier to use this rather than taping the foot every time I want to go for a run.
Today was a sick day. I have the start of a cold. Why is it that I have not suffered from any kind of cold or flu symptoms for months, yet the only race that I have entered for ages, and I start getting cold symptoms the week before it. Hubby is also sneezing so I have told him not to come anywhere near me until he stops. I do not want to be sick on Sunday…..I WILL NOT be sick on Sunday
Alana’s Quote: “I want to get my racing car licence!”
Exercise: Netball Game (Hurricane 7’s Blue)
I only played the second half of our Netball game last night (we had 8 players). I wore one of my new pairs of Hurricanes as they’ve got the best cushioning and I stretched lots before and after the game. I still woke up this morning with a sore heel
Another missed run. Michelle must be getting sick of my text messages at 5.30 in the morning saying that I’m not running
Have decided that I’m going to rest the foot until Sunday. Em, you are probably right about the PF. CV did mention that it felt and sounded like the start of it. I was just hoping that with all the stretching, icing and ball rolling that I’m doing, it would just magically disappear
I may still do a 5km run on the treadmill to see how it feels. If I can’t run, I really am going to have to pull my finger out and get my weight program set up properly.
Celeste I feel your pain with the cold. I hate cold weather. I hate running in it, I hate the house being cold, and I really really hate my feet being cold. When I checked the weather forecast for this morning it was going down to 8 degrees. I suddenly went back into winter mode and pulled out all my long sleeve dri-fit tops, long running pants, gloves and even my ear warmers that I bought a few weeks ago. I may have to resort to doing some 5km runs in my lunch hour after it’s warmed up a bit.
Oh, by the way, we won our Netball game. 36 - 16.
Hubby taped The Biggest Loser for me last night but when I got home from Netball he was already watching it and I couldn’t be bothered rewinding it and starting again, so I onlyl watched it from where he was at. I wish Courtney was voted off. But Laura was ready to go home I think and she’s done really well since she’s left, so good on her. Now if Courtney doesn’t get voted off this week, I’m going to scream!! Looking forward to their makeovers.
Alana’s Quote: “Mum have you ever been sucked up by a tornado?”
Exercise: 20km Run - MMCT (7’s Yellow)
Today’s run was in almost perfect conditions, perfect except for the fact that I thought it was going to be cooler than it actually was, so I was dressed for cold weather - I got quite warm running ![]()
My foot was okay. I was always aware that I could feel my heel, but it wasn’t actually hurting when I ran. I’m taking this as a good sign. When I got home I put my feet in an ice bath (I just couldn’t bring myself to sit in the bath) and then stretched, showered and rolled my foot around on a tennis ball for a while (now that hurt!!). I’ve also put on my new Hurricane trainers because they have the most cushioning and support and hopefully this will help my heel as well.
Wasn’t the rain on Friday night and yesterday fabulous
I took this photo on my way to my girlfriends house. The whole sky was so black, it looked really ominous. Luckily we turned right, where there was still blue sky and sunshine!! We were nicely inside my girlfriends house before the rain hit.
Still can’t believe how quickly the weather changed….but then this is Melbourne so you just come to expect it don’t you?? Friday night I was walking around in shorts and singlet with the cooling going. Saturday night I had trackie pants, thick socks and fleece on and was seriously considering putting the heating on
I tried out my new roller skates yesterday. Very nice if I do say so myself
Unfortunately Alana had a little accident and smashed her elbow on the floor (twice). The first time she fell, it wasn’t my fault, however the second time, I lost my balance while holding her hand and kind of pushed her over
Her elbow now has a lovely bruise on it.
I’m undecided about how to get to R4K on Sunday. I read somewhere that they were going to put on earlier trains as the earliest one would only get to Flinders Street at 8am and the race starts at 8.30. I don’t think this will leave me much time to walk to the start, put my bag away and find everyone else for a natter before the race. I may drive in and park at Crown Casino. As I have membership there I can park for free. Then I would just have to walk up from Southbank.
Am happy to report that I’ve received my new R4K t-shirt back already. How’s that for service. I sent it off on Wednesday in an Express Bag and got the new one on Friday. I’m very impressed!!
Gazza is Michelle’s Garmin. Unfortunately he accidently got run over last week….he didn’t survive the accident ![]()
Exercise: 10.4km Run - Home to Lilydale (6’s)
Michelle and I were supposed to run hills this morning, but I was asked by Hubby last night if we could run to Lilydale instead and pick up a car ![]()
Seems that one of his friends at the Squash club has torn his achilles and was carted off in an Ambulance but needed to get his car home somehow, so Nick kindly offered my services to him, so when Michelle rocked up to my place this morning we made a decision to run along the back streets, which would give us a 10km run, rather than along the highway, which would have been shorter and far more dangerous.
We only got a little bit lost once, and that was after we asked a young lad who was walking his dog how to get to the lake from the estate that we were running through. Once we’d turned around and retraced our steps after coming to a dead end, we found a couple who were out walking and they gave us the correct directions
My foot pain has now moved *shakes head*. It is now on the top of my foot and it’s making it a little difficult to walk properly. It does go away after I’ve been moving around for a while, but if I sit down for any period of time, once I get back up, I’m hobbling again. More icing and stretching needed tonight I think.
I went to the Tony Bianco Shoe store in Croydon again yesterday. I only bought one pair of shoes this time
I just love these shoes. It’s like finding the perfect bra. Once you’ve found that perfect fit, style and comfort you just keep buying them.
I’ve loved the kerfuffle that the new contestants on the Biggest Loser have brought to the house. I have found Courtneys reaction so funny, it keeps me entertained every night. I wonder who it is that’s going to put on weight at this weeks weigh in!!
RIP Gazza ![]()
I got up this morning and my foot felt alot better than yesterday morning. When I came home last night I iced and stretched throughout the evening, so I’m hoping that’s what has made it feel better.
Now when I say “better” it is still a bit tender to touch but I can actually put weight on it now without a shooting pain going through my foot and I don’t have to hobble any more
I rang CV this morning to see if I could get an appointment with her. Luckily she’d had a cancellation so got in today. She gave me a right pounding (but I wouldn’t expect anything less) and has noticed that I’m a bit lop sided when I lay flat on my stomach, so she did work on my lower back, glutes, calves, ITB….okay, so just about all over. After she’d dug her fingers into my foot (which had me jumping around like someone posessed) she then had a go at my hip flexors - I can’t actually describe the feeling when she dug her fingers in there, but let’s just say that it was not a pleasant sensation
I sent my Run For the Kids t-shirt back today. I just hope I get my new one before the race. I wasn’t going to wear the t-shirt on the day of the race because it was just too big (I’d ordered a Medium without reading the website for sizing), but I’ve now ordered one that should hopefully fit better so I may just venture out on race day with it on. It’s not like I’m going to stand out in the crowd at all
I’ve seen on Celeste’s blog and RunMumRun’s blog that they’ve got these cool widgets called Visual DNA
Unfortunately WordPress doesn’t like it so it only shows the link….at least you can click on the link and see the info at the website rather than here on this page. It’s just a bit of fun
Exercise: Netball Game
Got to Netball last night to find out that even though we had 7 players we also needed a scorer so one of us had to sit out and score. That only left us with 6 players - oh well, what’s one less player hey!! The other team also had 6 players to start but about half way through the first quarter their 7th player showed up, so that put us on the defensive straight away.
We played really well but unfortunately we lost by 10 goals. I’ve also come away from the game with a very sore heel. I got home, showered and then sat with my frozen 2 litre bottle of water underneath my foot. I haven’t had really bad heel pain before so it was not something that I can really put my finger on why it’s happened. I had a look at my trigger point therapy book and have worked out that alot of the pain is associated with my calf, so lots of calf stretching and massaging was done.
I had to get up and go to the loo during the night and I couldn’t put any weight on my heel at all as it hurt so much. A text message to Michelle went out to say that I definitely wouldn’t be running this morning. I’m so disappointed as I am only just getting back into some fitness with my running and now this happens!! I’ll just keep icing and stretching today and see how it goes, as I’m supposed to be meeting Michelle tomorrow morning for another run.
Hasn’t it been nice to actually see some rain. Looks like it might just be starting to clear up, but I’m sure that the garden has enjoyed it. I would have even enjoyed running in it this morning if I’d gone…..WOW, did I just say that
How great do Mel and Greg look now that they’ve left the Biggest Loser!! And what’s all this about intruders entering the Biggest Loser house!! Did you see the look on Courtney’s face - HA!! Can’t wait for tonight’s episode.
Exercise: 4.3km Power Walk - Local Streets
Back into the swing of doing some power walking at lunch time with one of my work colleagues. It’s made my legs feel much better than they were this morning. They’re quite stiff and a bit sore at the moment, probably due to that ice bath not being taken on Saturday after my long run
I found 20c on the ground while I was walking so I’m waiting for my good luck to happen now
Why is Mothers Day in the UK on a different day than over here? Then I would remember to send a card
JH - Michelle did the 40km in about 4hrs. She pretty much ran 6min K’s the whole distance.
Alana’s Quote: “Dad promised to buy me a new car when I was 30. I want a Nissan Skyline!”
For some reason, probably because the weather is now changing (finally!!), I was in the mood to cook. I usually don’t have time during the week to do much cooking, so it was great to actually make some time today to get stuck into it. Of course there is nothing better than cooking while supping on a lovely glass of champers
This is my favourite Chicken Hot Pot recipe. I made some Dumplings to go on top of it once it had cooked.
Another favourite of mine - Kashmir Lamb, served with Basmati Rice. I’ve put everything in containers ready for freezing.
And a cooking afternoon wouldn’t be complete without Banana Muffins and Egg & Bacon Pie. Most of the muffins have now been eaten
Hopefully this will make evening meal time a little less hectic for the next couple of weeks. I really enjoyed doing all the cooking. The washing up bit afterwards was a bit of a pain in the bum though
I can’t believe how much weight Munnalita lost on the Biggest Loser - 9kg!!!! OMG, to be able to lose that much in one week is just beyond comprehension. She really must have worked extremely hard and put alot of thought into her diet. I take my hat off to her. I still wanted her and Courtney to be voted out though. I suppose that out of the other two duos, it’s probably going to be Greg and Mel who get voted out as they are probably a little bit more focused on where they want to be and they have done so well with their weight loss and exercise. I’m looking forward to the final now ![]()
Exercise: 22.1km Run - Warby Trail (7’s Yellow)
After having done no exercise for 4 days straight the long run loomed again. I was a little bit worried that I was going to find this hard today due to no mileage in the legs at all. But my theory was that if I couldn’t run the distance then I’d just power walk what I couldn’t run.
Michelle drove to Warburton and ran back to meet me a couple of km’s past Woori Yallock. I drove to Killara and ran in a couple of km’s to meet her…..we met in the middle!! Michelle then turned around and ran back to Warburton with me in tow this time
This is the Warby Trail at Killara
It had been raining over night and during the early morning so I was prepared for this. I have a waterproof rain jacket which I bought when it was discovered that my other rain jacket was not waterproof.
Driving out to Killara it was a bit overcast with spots of rain. However, once I got onto the Warburton Highway it magically all vanished and the sun came out with blue skies. Yippee!! I parked up at Killara and waited for Michelle to text me to say that she was at Woori Yallock as that was when I would start running.
It was a great run with the sun out for alot of it. We did get the occasional black cloud pass us by and only had one spot of very light rain that lasted about 1 minute. Other than that it was perfect running weather.
And Michelle ran 40KM today!!!
I didn’t have an ice bath today as I just didn’t feel like it. However I am now feeling my legs much more than I was last week, so on reflection maybe I should have sat in that cold water for a little bit. Just hope the achy feeling goes away soon.
What can I say about the Biggest Loser!! Didn’t Courtnery and Munnalita get their just desserts being paired up together
Serves them both right. And now they’re back stabbing each other - HA!! I’m glad that Marty came back. He definitely deserves another chance as the way he was voted off was really unfair. And I bet that Patti felt very awkward when she was paired up with him as it was due to her stupidity that he got voted off in the first place. Can’t wait to see who goes under that yellow line!
Alana’s Quote: “Dad are you going to the Air Show?”
Dad: “Yes”
Alana: “Just be careful you don’t get blind ears!”
I had a text from Michelle at 5.30am to say that she wasn’t very well so wouldn’t be running. Why wasn’t I disappointed in this?? Why was I happy to jump straight back into my nice warm bed? Why didn’t I just continue putting my clothes on and go out for a run on my own?? Can anyone else answer these quesitions ‘cos I certainly can’t!!
I was also supposed to be power walking with my friend at lunch time today but I’ve got Parent/Teacher interviews this afternoon so had to work through my lunch time. Maybe, just maybe I’ll get a run in when I get home from the school
Now check out these beauties……
I have no excuses now. I WILL be roller skating regularly. They are made by Nike so I’m hoping that they are going to be comfortable to skate in and last a while too. Alana was very excited when she first saw them and wanted to try them on. I think they might just be a smidgen too big for her right now. I have a feeling that the “what’s yours is mine” mindset is going to come into play with her very soon
Still no rain
It’s getting very hard to water the garden now with it being pretty much fully dark by 8pm. I hope the council consider moving the times forward a little bit in the evening so that we at least get a little bit of daylight to be able to see what we’re doing!!
Alana’s Quote: “Look at how messy that house is!” (you haven’t seen her bedroom)
Exercise: 9.1km Run - R4K Training Session - The Tan (6’s)
Michelle and I thought it would be a good idea to do one of the Run 4 Kids training sessions as we were both free to drive up to town, and as it was a public holiday we didn’t have to worry about work getting in the way.
It has been a lovely sunny day today - ALL DAY - of course as soon as we hit the city it decided to cloud right over, to the point where the wind was very nipply, to say the least ![]()
Originally I’d had a singlet on, but me being me, I’d also brought a t-shirt with me in case the weather changed. Thank god I was thinking clearly for a change as I hurriedly changed into the t-shirt before we got to where everyone was meeting at Federation Square.
Saw Clarkey as soon as we walked up to where everyone was mulling around. We then signed up, got ourselves a nice little yellow paper bracelet and hung around until everyone was ready to move off. Also said hi to Chris W and his wife (although we didn’t know it was her until we’d finished the run).
Having hardly run around The Tan it was a nice change of scenery. The only downside was thinking about running up Anderson Street. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I ran up that hill with tons of energy and felt really strong. It didn’t beat me at all - YAY
Got home, jumped in the shower and then settled down to watch The Biggest Loser (hubby had taped it for me). What is wrong with the Red Team??? OMG, how sad and bitchy are they all? I can’t believe Patti made it go to a hung jury so that the Blue Team got to make the final vote. And why does she like Courtney so much? He is just a horrible, petty, back stabbing ponce!!! Okay, got that off my chest now ![]()
Does anyone else enjoy going food shopping? I do! I take ages to wander around the aisles, checking out everything. I always take a list with me, but there is always more food in my trolley than what’s on the list. Today I took nearly an hour and a half. Is this a long time?
I did save myself a fair bit of money today by shopping around. In Safeway the price of Natures Way Kids Smart Omega Fish Oil Capsules was $34.95. There was no way that I was going to pay that amount of money for them. So I walked around to Priceline once I’d finished my food shopping and bought them for $22.95. How can Safeway justify the huge price difference??
I read in one of the latest running magazines about Negative Calorie Foods. So today I cooked up some Sweet Potato, Brussel Sprouts and Cauliflower, blitzed it all, added some margerine and milk and then put it all into invididual containers so that it’s easy to just thaw it out and add it to whatever meat I’m going to cook. Because I’m too lazy to cook much when I get home this should be a simple alternative!!
I made the most awesome Bacon, Egg and Leek Pie today…..check it out
Alana’s Quote: “Mum you’re going to look like a Marshmallow soon!”
Exercise: 19km Run - Dandy Creek Trail (7’s Yellow)
Another fine day dawned this morning. Was hoping that the cloud cover would hold on until midday or so, but unfortunately it decided to clear just before I started running (10am).
I met Michelle at Jells Park. She had already run 18km
We ran out of the park towards Dandenong, but decided at the 5.5km mark (which is where the Eastlink roadworks are happening) to turn around and head back through the park and out the otherside towards Knox. This was mainly to avoid running up the hill where the roadworks are taking place
Michelle had thought that the trail was pretty shaded, but unfortunately it was only when we had started running that we realised it was totally open apart from a few small areas of the trail. This meant we were running out in the sun for the majority of the run. It was very energy sapping and hard work.
I cut my run a bit short and ended up doing 19km. Michelle got to run her 38km, which is a brilliant effor considering the warm conditions. Lots of water and stretching when we got back to the car.
I jumped into my cold bath once I got home and chucked a frozen 2 litre bottle of water in with me for company. My legs right now feel great. I still can’t believe that is makes such a huge difference just by sitting in cold water….but it does
Have been out this afternoon to have some food at the Hogs Breath Cafe followed by some Ice Cream at the Cold Rock Ice Creamery, Whoever thought of this idea is a genius. I had licorice and double choc ice cream mixed together. It had real pieces of licorice in it too….I said no to mixing it with anything else, although the next time I go back there I will have one of the mixes. Just wonderful stuff!! ![]()
Exercise: 10km Run - Local Streets (6’s)
It was a real struggle getting out of bed this morning when the alarm went off at 5.30am. Alana had woken us up at 3am complaining of a sore tummy. I managed to get her back to bed fairly quickly but was woken again when she came in a little while later to tell me that she had been sick 5 times!! So I had to get up and make sure she was okay and safely tucked back into bed.
The run itself was very slow. We did the same time this morning as we did last night, but we ran an extra km last night. We skipped on the hills too as I just couldn’t cope with them.
I’m at home today as Alana is still not very well. She has been sick again so I think it might have been a dodgy piece of fish that she ate last night. I’d dropped her at my Mums place while I went for my run with Michelle and had left some cash so that she could have Fish & Chips. Might recommend to my Mum that she doesn’t use that Chippy any more!!
Right, while I’ve got the chance I’m off to do some washing and ironing
Alana’s Quote: “Mum I’ve been sick 12 times now” (she was counting how many times she retched!)
Exercise: 11km Run - Dorset Golf Course (7’s Yellow)
I went home for lunch today. Nothing special about that you say!! I was sitting in the lounge room reading my book whilst digging in to my Tuna Sandwich. Still nothing special really!! Then all of a sudden the house shook. I thought at first an aeroplane had flown very low over the house enough to make it shake like that, but when I looked out of the window I saw nothing. When I left the house to go back to work I walked around the back to make sure that a tree hadn’t fallen on the house. No tree! I had to assume that maybe there was work being done in the area and somebody had dropped something very big, which caused a huge vibration!
It was only this evening when I was running with Michelle that she started talking about an earthquake. The penny dropped!! I have only felt one other earthquake and that was in 1982 or 1983. It was the middle of the night and it woke me up as I thought somebody was trying to get in the window as they were shaking quite loudly! Woke up the next morning to hear that there’d been an earthquake.
The run tonight was quite enjoyable although we picked up the pace on the 2nd and 3rd lap due to another Ausrunner joining us. As he runs a fair bit faster than us we just sort of went along with his pace, which was his cooling down pace, and our push yourself a bit more than usual pace ![]()
Exercise: 4.4km Run/Walk - Lunchtime (7’s Yellow)
My girlfriend at work wanted to run today instead of walk, so out we went for a run. Now taking into account that she’s a smoker and uses an inhaler, she didn’t do too badly. We did have to have a couple of walk breaks so that she could get her breath back but we did the 4.4km in about 31 1/2 minutes. I just hope I didn’t push her too hard and she won’t ever want to come out with me again
My neck is heaps better today. I have alot more movement in it and even though it’s still sore, that’s due to the massage rather than the actual pain itself. I’m hoping that it’ll all be back to normal by tomorrow as I’ve got quite a bit of running to do in the next few days!
Did anyone watch The Biggest Loser last night? I had tears in my eyes watching Damien run up and down that hill, and when he got to the end it was just such an emotional heart tug. And I so understood where he was coming from when he wanted to quit halfway through the challenge. I’ve had that feeling so many times when I’ve been doing 1/2 marathons and have run out of energy and just didn’t want to keep going. Luckily I’ve always had Michelle by my side to drag me along with her, otherwise I would have probably given up on many occasions.
I’ve booked tickets to the Melbourne Comedy Festival to see Ardal O’Hanlon. I used to love the show My Hero and Father Ted was always a good laugh. My parents are going to look after Alana so we get a pass out for an overnight stay in town too
I had to text Michelle very early this morning that I wasn’t going to make it, as my neck was just way too sore to run. I couldn’t sleep properly and every time I turned over my back hurt, which woke me up.
I managed to get an appointment with CV for 5pm (luckily she’d had a cancellation) and it feels much better now, even though it hurt like hell while she was doing her stuff!! It’s still a bit sore but she said that it should be fine by Thursday, with no pain at all. Roll on Thursday
My trip to Tony Bianco in Croydon was very successful. I now have another 2 pairs of shoes to add to my collection. And they were both reduced in price too, which is even better!
So when do you think we’re going to get some rain then? My guess is about June
I took a wander down to the back garden and the grass is so dry that there are now huge cracks in the ground.
Had another disaster with the Yorkshire Pudding mixture tonight. It was very rubbery and doughy. Just can’t seem to get it right! I’m going to start looking at different recipes, although how different can they be….it’s just plain flour, egg and milk for goodness sake!!
Alana’s Quote: “Mum I just don’t get you!”
Exercise: Netball Game
So here’s the photo of my new shoes
I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve got in the shop in Croydon. Hopefully they’ll have different designs to what was in the shop in Smith Street.
My neck is sore. It’s gotten worse since Sunday. I woke up this morning with my head right up against the headboard and my pillow squashed between that and my head. I felt like my neck was being sardined. I might have to give CV a call if it doesn’t get any better.
Alana’s Quote: “Mum can fire and water mix?”
Exercise: 30 Min Power Walk (Lunch Time)
Wow, where did that weekend go??? Happy to report that no chocolate was consumed (Choco Frappe’s don’t count!!), also no alcohol apart from one Bacardi Breezer on Friday night after work. I did no running but I walked the streets of Collingwood on Saturday and did gardening yesterday. I reckon that counts as exercise doesn’t it??
I have found the most fantastic shoes. Why hasn’t anyone told me about these before? They are Tony Bianco’s. I found a little shop on Smith Street and I could have spent a fortune in there. I came away with only 2 pairs (see I can refrain when I need to!!). I have also found out that there’s an outlet in Croydon so guess where I’m going at lunch time tomorrow!! I’ll put up a photo of the shoes once I’ve downloaded them.
And whilst I was in Collingwood I went into all the factory outlets - Adidas, Nike, Converse, etc., plus all the clothes outlets. Yes the credit card got a good walloping :-).
Hubby and I did the dutiful parent thing on Saturday night and took Alana and her 2 cousins, who were staying at our place the night, roller skating. I felt very old. I remember when my parents used to drop me off at Roller Skating and pick me up at 10.30pm. How time flies.
One of the girls at work has asked me if I’ll do some exercise with her at lunch times, so I’m now doing 3 lunch times per week of either running or power walking. All good
Alana’s Quote: “Have you and Daddy had sex before?” (we can’t seem to get away from this subject at the moment!!)
Exercise: 10km Run - Local Hills (7’s Yellow)
When I went to bed last night my right butt cheek was a little sore. There was a constant dull throb eminating (sp?) out of the muscle and no matter how much I stretched it wouldn’t go away. Stu, before you ask, no I didn’t ice it.
Anyway i got up this morning and it wasn’t so much a dull ache but more of a slight tenderness. I wasn’t sure if hill work would help or hinder it but what the hell, we ran the hills anyway.
Our times are coming down very slowly….and it is SLOW! This week we ran 36 seconds faster than last week. It certainly didn’t feel faster that’s for sure. My legs were feeling very heavy, probably because I ran last night as well. I did wear the light though, and it made heaps of difference. I was actually able to see the dog poo on the footpath before I stepped in it!!
I’m having withdrawal symptoms at the moment as the Ausrun forum is down…..deep breaths - in, out, in, out

Exercise: 10km Run - MMCT (6’s)
Did I say it was going to be an easy 10km run tonight?? It was a hard slog, that’s what it was. I’m not sure if it was because I’m not used to running in the evening, whether I’d drunk too much water before running, or just because it was a crappy run, but it wasn’t nice.
When we ran on Tuesday morning, we’d noticed there was a sign pointing to toilets which we hadn’t seen before. (The fact that we’ve run this trail at least 50 times and have never seen the sign before is quite baffling isn’t it!! :roll
So tonight was a very opportune time to visit those toilets. And it’s good to know that they are there now as it means that I won’t have to go “bush” any more. I just hope that they are open early in the morning.
I ran 168.7km in February. I’m hoping that I can increase that to 200km for March

Pinch, punch, first day of the month….and so far so good. I haven’t felt the urge to eat chocolate, even though my brain is telling me constantly that it was a stupid challenge!! And who decided that it was Charity Chocolate time? We have 2 boxes in the staff kitchen this morning
My Trigger Point Therapy book has finally arrived. I can now take the other one back to the library. All up it took exactly 7 weeks to arrive. It came surface mail. I think I’ll pay the extra for airmail next time!!
So to answer a few more questions:
Eat Em, Lee - Yes the picture in the header is the Warby Trail. It was taken in between Woori Yallock and Seville.
Regarding the lights, I saw them advertised in the latest Bunnings catalogue for $9.92, whereas I paid $20 for them last year. They are very easy to use, just fit them on the peak of your cap and away you go. AJH, we turn them off once it gets light enough, and they actually sit under the peak so you can’t see them at all. They don’t bounce around at all as they are attached to the cap. Think of it like sliding a paper clip onto a piece of paper.
Stu - Michelle and I meet at 6am so yes it is dark at that time of the day. It normally starts to get a bit lighter by about 6.30ish.
I had the day off yesterday so decided to do some cooking. I had a couple of bananas that were very ripe (too ripe to eat normally) so made some Banana Muffins. Also made some Date Scones, although they are a little bit dry. This was from a Weight Watchers recipe, which was very easy to do.
Have arranged to meet Michelle tonight for an easy 10km run.
